Summer 1989, East Germany: Adam works as a tailor while Evelyn serves as a waitress. They plan a vacation together but their plans are disrupted when Evelyn discovers Adam's infidelity and decides to travel alone to Hungary, where Adam follows her. With the opening of the Hungarian-Austrian border, the story unfolds as new possibilities emerge for Adam and Evelyn to choose between the Eastern and Western worlds for their future. This narrative is based on the novel "Adam und Evelyn" by Ingo Schulze, translated into more than ten languages, and has been selected for the Venice Film Festival Critics' Week.
