In Tsivia Barkai Yacov's debut feature film, Avigayil Koevary delivers a powerful portrayal of defiance and desire in a young woman whose intimate relations she views as the highest connection between two souls. This deeply personal perspective is set against the backdrop of a 17-year-old girl named Benny, whose life is marked by loneliness and entrapment, much like the treasured calf with red fur belonging to her devout father, who believes it will bring salvation. Benny's world is further complicated by the loss of her mother at birth and her upbringing under a patriarchal father who is both an authority figure and mentor within their Jerusalem religious community. As Benny grows increasingly critical of her father's religious, utopian nationalist beliefs, she finds herself drawn to Yael, a self-assured young woman who ignites a whirlwind of longing and emotions within her.
