In 1997, scientists and local government officials faced life-and-death decisions when a destructive flood wave threatened the city, a scenario depicted in the suspenseful six-episode disaster drama series "High Water," inspired by the real-life events of the Millennium Flood that hit Poland, along with parts of the Czech Republic and Germany. Led by aspiring clerk Jakub Marczak, local authorities brought in hydrologist Jaśmina Tremer, who had a troubled past, to help save the city at any cost. Meanwhile, Andrzej Rębacz returned to his hometown of Kęty near Wrocław, unexpectedly leading rebellious residents. The series, directed by Jan Holoubek and Bartłomiej Ignaciuk, stars Agnieszka Żulewska, Tomasz Schuchardt, Ireneusz Czop, Marta Nieradkiewicz, Mirosław Kropielnicki, Anna Dymna, and Tomasz Kot, bringing to life this thrilling tale of survival and community resilience during one of the most devastating natural disasters in recent history.
